They are seeking a motivated Senior Community Engagement Advisor - Indigenous Identified employee to join their team and make a difference in our community. To provide expert advice on engaging with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of Sydney. The role will support in managing stakeholder and community engagement for high-profile projects and deliver projects and initiatives that continue to centre the voices and needs of the Community.

Responsibilities:
Community Outreach and Relationship Building:

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with community leaders, stakeholders, and local organisations.
  • Act as a liaison between the project team and the community to address concerns, provide information, and ensure alignment with community interests.

Strategic Planning:

  • Developing community engagement strategies and initiatives that align with the organisation's goals and values.
  • Identifying key community issues and finding ways to address them through collaboration and partnerships.
  • Grant assessments

Consultation and Feedback:

  • Analysing and reporting on community feedback, making recommendations for improvements or changes based on this input.

Communication and Advocacy:

  • Advocating on behalf of the community's interests, ensuring that their voices are heard in organisational decision-making processes.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Review documents, track, and report on the effectiveness of community engagement activities, providing feedback and recommendations for future initiatives.

Crisis Management and Issue Resolution:

  • Be sensitive when responding to community concerns, complaints, or issues, and managing conflict or crises that may arise.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to engage effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders. Hear and acknowledge options without discounting.
  • Ability to address community concerns and advise with solutions that balance both organisational and community needs.
  • Understanding and respecting diverse cultural backgrounds and community dynamics.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills to help plan and advise on community projects.
  • Relationship building skills.
  • Being able to have challenging conversations to work towards solutions.
  • Ability to facilitate and negotiate activities with key partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications, at degree level, in communications, community engagement or a related discipline and/or equivalent Aboriginal community and cultural knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in stakeholder and community engagement in an organisation working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Extensive experience problem solving stakeholder and community issues on projects or community engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving and delivering projects and programs.
