Job description
Job Title: Production Operator / Forklift Operator
Location: Thornton (Outer Newcastle Area)
Salary: $33.13 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, ongoing work with the potential for casual-to-permanent placement within 4 weeks.
About the Role: A leading company in the concrete industry is seeking a Production Operator/Forklift Operator to join their team. This position involves 50% production labor and 50% forklift operation. You will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient production of steel-reinforced concrete pipes, contributing to the company's commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily pre-start checks on equipment to ensure it is in safe working order.
- Prepare necessary tools and equipment (ladders, stencils, paint, trowels, etc.) for daily production tasks.
- Safely operate a forklift to move pipes, reinforcement cages, and other materials.
- Open moulds, remove finished pipes, and prepare moulds for the next production cycle.
- Monitor pipe quality, addressing any issues or defects as they arise.
- Apply appropriate labels and conduct finishing tasks, including patching and cleaning pipes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the production areas.
- Report any equipment issues to your Supervisor and assist with maintenance tasks.
- Ensure proper cleaning and storage of equipment after use.
- Be flexible to work outside of normal hours, including weekends and holidays, if required.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in concrete pipe production, steel cages, or related manufacturing, civil, or building industries.
- Strong safety focus and attention to detail in housekeeping practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to complete relevant certifications (company-paid training).
Qualifications:
- Current Driver's License.
- Forklift License (required).
- Own vehicle (preferred).
- EWP (advantageous, but not essential).
- Confined Space (advantageous, but not essential).

- Physical capability to perform the tasks required in this role.
PPE Requirements:
- Long-sleeve high visibility shirt.
- Long-sleeve pants with reflective tape.
