Job description

Job Title: Production Operator / Forklift Operator

Location: Somersby, NSW
Hourly Rate: $37.10 per hour
Shift: Afternoon shift; 4pm-12am

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Production Operator / Forklift Operator to join our team. This role will involve a 50% split between production labour and forklift operation. You will play a key role in safely and efficiently producing steel-reinforced concrete pipes, while ensuring the highest quality and safety standards are met. The role is located in a site that can be dusty, so candidates must be prepared for working in these conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily pre-start checks on equipment and machinery.
  • Prepare production tools and materials such as ladders, stencils, paint, and trowels for the day's tasks.
  • Safely operate a forklift to move pipes, reinforcement cages, and other materials.
  • Open moulds, remove finished pipes, and prepare for the next production cycle.
  • Monitor the quality of the produced pipes and address any issues promptly.
  • Apply labels, conduct finishing tasks like patching and cleaning pipes, and ensure proper storage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the production areas at all times.
  • Assist in general maintenance tasks when required.
  • Report any equipment issues, defects, or safety concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Be flexible with working hours, including weekends and holidays when required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in concrete pipe production, steel cages, or related industries (manufacturing, civil, building, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • A strong focus on safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to undergo relevant training and certifications (company-sponsored).

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Forklift license.
  • Own vehicle (preferred).
  • EWP and Confined Space tickets are advantageous but not essential.

PPE Requirements:

  • Long sleeve high visibility shirt and long sleeve pants with reflector tape are required to be worn at all times.
