My client, a listed global business providing workforce solutions and HR services, has an opportunity for an experienced Senior HSEQ Advisor to provide professional operational and occupational health, safety, risk management support and advice to stakeholders for the elimination of occupational harm and operational exposures.

Reporting to the Head of Legal services, this role is a key position in HSE assurance and incident prevention, and provides training, practical advice, mentoring and support on these matters. It has key-interfacing with different areas within the Group's leading brands to ensure management systems meet customer, client business, contractual and regulatory requirements in line with the organisations strategic goals.

About this role:

  • Demonstrated ability to identify legislative, behavioural and industrial influences on HSEQ related matters, and respond with practical solutions that enhance positive performances, productivity and safety assurances.
  • Be able to formulate, implement and monitor HSEQ related procedures within the business units with effective mentoring support.
  • Identify, and respond to legislative changes and industry standards affecting the business units that ensures prescriptive requirements are met.
  • Conduct various audit practices on clients to gauge compliance levels and gaps analysis with practical advice / solutions wherever possible.
  • Ensure that business unit staff understand and conduct compliant business practices to relevant legislation and Group Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental standards and practices.
  • Formulate, implement and measure competency for HSEQ related training demands and initiatives.
  • Deliver site based training programs on occupational exposures source trends and preventative strategies.
  • Drive Business Units to achieve compliance in line with the Group's standards and relevant external certification
  • Comply with Group's policies and procedures relating to hazards, incident, injuries and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Assist in HSEQ related supplier liaison, management and systems implementation

Key deliverables:

  • Compliance with Standards, relevant legislation and Group Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental standards and practices.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Group's values and be able to bring these to life in everyday interactions.
  • Strong influencing skills, culturally aligned in being able to work with a diverse workforce
  • Reduced lag indicators through the provision of effective preventative strategies and services.
  • Positive business relationships with key client stakeholders (internal & external).
  • Statutory Compliance diligence ensures no exposures to improvement or prohibition notices from regulatory Authorities.
  • Volume of resolved hazards from incidents, audits, reports and directives within time frames meets expected targets.
  • Injuries reported immediately to HSEQ Senior Advisor and investigated within 48hrs.
  • Management of Labour Hire Licensing requirements including reporting and administrative management of timely renewals.
  • The quality of statistical, technical and operational information collated and submitted is accurate, of high quality and beneficial to the organisation.
  • Internal and external audit outcomes.
  • Demonstrate the applicable statutes are understood and practices are compliant with those provisions.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications in Safety Management & quality, ideally a Diploma in Health and Safety
  • Ideally 5 years+ demonstrated experience in a wide range of industrial blue collar environments.
  • Knowledge and experience with key WHS legislation in VIC, QLD, NSW, ACT, WA, TAS.
  • Knowledge of behavioural safety concepts and basic psychological principles
  • Effective time management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in managing team members and mentoring junior team members

  • Ability to build a rapport with stakeholders - both internal and external
  • High level organizing, scheduling, monitoring and reviewing capabilities
  • Responsibility for providing training and maintaining HSEQ policies and procedures
  • Flexibility to broaden remit in response to changed business needs
