Job Description:

They are seeking a motivated Senior Community Engagement Coordinator to join their team and make a difference in our community. To provide expert advice on engaging with the City of Sydney's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The role will support in managing stakeholder and community engagement for high-profile projects and deliver projects and initiatives that continue to centre the voices and needs of the Community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with strategic partners, businesses and to ensure Council's activities are communicated and consulted on effectively ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community are engaged with appropriately.
- Develop and implement engagement strategies that ensure the community and stakeholders are engaged in the development and implementation of projects and activities including facilitating of workshops and meetings.
- Provide expert advice and maintain clear lines of communication with internal and external partners and stakeholders, especially with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Promote events, workshops, launches, grants and any important matters to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.
- Assist internal stakeholders in responding, creating and reviewing documentation and communication pieces relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait community content.
- Work as part of the project delivery teams or working groups for key projects/programs/events and ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are effectively engaged, and their needs and recommendations are considered.
- Actively contribute to the development of the City of Sydney's policies, submissions, strategies and plans to ensure and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lens are included.
- Promote, assess and relationship manage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander grant applicants and recipients.
- Review procurement documentation and take part in panel assessments to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses are provided with opportunities.
- Project manage and deliver Indigenous Leadership and Engagement team projects and activities ensuring deliverables are completed on time.
- Provide cultural coaching as a sounding board for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employee network
Skills & Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications, at degree level, in communications, community engagement or a related discipline and/or equivalent Aboriginal community and cultural knowledge and experience.
- Experience in stakeholder and community engagement in an organisation working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Extensive experience problem solving stakeholder and community issues on projects or community engagements.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills with a clear and concise writing style and ability to present ideas clearly.
- Ability to achieve results through a planned approach and decision making.
- Demonstrated experience in driving and delivering projects and programs.
Ability to facilitate and negotiate activities with key partners and stakeholders
