Job description
Scope of Position
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall directions, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with the organizations strategic direction and intended result.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and Supervision - Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of projects.
- Project Managers are responsible for the contractual/commercial of a Structural Steel project including the coordination of drafting, manufacturing, erection and administration of a project.
- Client liaison including negotiation and follow up with the customers, builders, engineers, architects etc. on issues arising with specific job requirements and RFI's.
- Assist with risk assessments at hand over meetings
- Negotiate sub-contractor arrangements & pricing for all outsourced services including surface treatment, drafting, and erection etc. prior to requesting an order from purchasing, the final negotiated price to be authorized by the Managing director.
- The project manager is responsible to monitor each job according to the scope of works which includes the following:
Monitor budget requirements of the project including updating the budget as orders are issued, variations received and progress claims are made.
Warrant that all variations have been submitted by the scheduled date
Ensure specification requirements including architectural, engineering and drafting are "for construction drawings".
Allocate, issue drawings to the nominated external drafting organization and assist and address all quires within suitable time frame.
Organise and attend meetings with the relevant departments to ensure all areas are informed of the project requirements.
Carefully read, complete, collate all information and address any concerns that is in the Contract received from the client. Ensure that a copy of the contract with all parties signatures is in contracts file.
Maintenance of all correspondence including drawing register, RFI register and Variation register.
Work in conjunction with WH&S Department to develop SWMS and Quality Plans for direct employees
Set project milestone requirement and invoicing points. (Kick off Meetings)
Track cost against budget requirements.
Determine and implement weld test requirements
Determine and implement surface treatment requirements
Track fabrication program and hours o Establish the erection method for each specific project and ensure SWMS requirements are met.
Ensure that SWMS are project specific and that contractors provide their own and are submitted with the client
Ensure that subcontractors adhere to rules, regulations and procedures
Issue shop drawings for approval/fabrication.
Issue bolt/purlin listing to purchasing.
Sign off from builder at completion of works.
- Ensure the scope of works is updated as required throughout the project term.
- Update the program and production schedule to reflect a clear picture to management at all times.
- Maintenance of Job File folders.
- Ensure accurate records are kept for all site works including the erection process, QA, Safety, Fabrication progress, Painting, Progress claims, Cash flow and costings.
- Implementation of Variations relating to specific jobs and approval from client.
- Attend process meetings.
- Identify and raise Improvement Notices
