Job Title: Production Operator / Forklift Operator
Location: Thornton (Outer Newcastle Area)
Position Type: Full-time, Ongoing (Permanent opportunity within 1 month for the right candidate)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Hours may vary, with lots of overtime and Saturday work available)
Hourly Rate: $33.13 per hour

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Production Operator/Forklift Operator to safely and efficiently carry out day-to-day tasks in the production of concrete pipes. This role involves a combination of production labor and forklift operation, with opportunities for career development and permanent placement after a successful trial period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily pre-start checks on equipment to ensure it is ready for use.
  • Prepare equipment such as ladders, stencils, paint, and trowels for production tasks.
  • Safely operate forklifts to move pipes, reinforcement cages, and other materials around the site.
  • Open moulds, remove finished pipes, and prepare moulds for the next cycle.
  • Monitor and inspect the quality of concrete pipes and resolve any issues as they arise.
  • Apply labels and perform finishing tasks like patching and cleaning pipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness in production areas and ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored correctly.
  • Assist with maintenance tasks when necessary and report any equipment faults.
  • Communicate effectively with the team and supervisor to address safety or quality concerns.
  • Be willing to work outside of regular hours, including weekends and holidays when required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in concrete pipe production, steel cage manufacturing, or other related industries (civil, building, or manufacturing).
  • Strong safety awareness with attention to housekeeping and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential for success in this role.
  • Ability to obtain relevant certifications, with company-paid courses available.

Qualifications:

  • Current Driver's License.
  • Forklift License (required).
  • Own vehicle (preferred).
  • EWP (Elevated Work Platform) License (advantageous but not essential).
  • Confined Space Training (advantageous but not essential).
