Job description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to support our commercial laundry operations. The role is essential to ensuring a safe and efficient production environment through effective reactive and preventative maintenance.

As part of the Maintenance Team, you will work collaboratively with operational staff and external contractors to maintain equipment reliability and reduce downtime. The position involves hands-on technical work, proactive problem solving, and commitment to safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform reactive and preventative maintenance on industrial laundry equipment.

  • Conduct equipment inspections and ensure maintenance tasks are completed to quality standards.

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns, identify faults, carry out repairs, and escalate major issues as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with WHS procedures, SOPs, and SWMS.

  • Work closely with the Production Team to minimise downtime and ensure continuity of operations.

  • Accurately update and manage maintenance records in the MEX system.

  • Assist in spare parts management and maintenance projects with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Participate in incident investigations and support workplace safety culture.

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised trade or tertiary qualification in mechanical or electrical fields.

  • Valid Class C Driver's Licence.

  • Availability to work rotating morning or afternoon shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with minimal disruption to operations.

Desirable Qualifications (Training can be provided)

  • Working at Heights ticket

  • Elevated Work Platform (EWP) ticket

  • Forklift licence

  • Confined Space ticket

  • Asbestos Awareness

  • Experience in a commercial laundry or manufacturing environment

Professional and Behavioural Competencies

  • Sound judgement and experience in prioritising tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset.

  • Understanding of and commitment to workplace diversity, safety, equity, and ACTPS values.
