Job description

Role Title: Asset Inspector/Admin support
Start Date: 20/01/2025
End Date: 02/05/2025
Hours of work: 8 hours p/d, 24 hours p/w - 3 days a week. Opportunity to WFH 1 day a week

Primary purpose of the position

Contribute to the safety and aesthetics of civil infrastructure in the public domain by conducting proactive inspections and provide administrative support to the team from time to time.

Key accountabilities

  1. Proactively inspect the LGA to identify/refer civil infrastructure defects for rectification in accordance with the City's intervention levels and priority timeframes.
  2. Maintain comprehensive, accurate and timely records that document communications, negotiations, and any other actions, necessary to progress defects through to rectification.
  3. Provide chargeable works support to the team by releasing new Road Opening Permits, creating utility orders, ensuring procedural compliance, and keeping appropriate current and archival records.


Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated asset inspections experience, ideally working in Government or a Service organisation.
  • Ability to work in a team and a collaborative environment
  • High level organisational and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Office and a range of corporate software applications.
  • Knowledge of, or the capacity to achieve knowledge of, relevant legislation including Local Government Act 1993, Roads Act 1993, Telecommunications Act 1997, Gas Supply Act 1996, Energy Supply Act 1995, and Sydney Water Act 1994
  • Experience in, or the capacity to achieve experience in, civil infrastructure management and maintenance principles, methods, techniques and practices
  • Knowledge of, or the capacity to achieve knowledge of, the City's operations, functions and regulations in relation to the use of the public way
